How to Whiten Whites

1 part cream of tartar
3 parts water

soak garment then wash as usual. Very good on your linens and cottons.

I'm so grateful you left this message posted here - thank you, thank you!

Yesterday, I finally removed some precious clothing from a cardboard box that had been stored for decades - and even though each item was wrapped in a white cotton sheet, they were so yellow and worse, many had 'odd little ugly dots' of stains.

I followed your instructions on how to 'whiten whites' and true magic has happened!

My mother's Christening gown (created by my Grandmother over 100 years ago and used for both my Christening and then our daughter's in 1971), my mother's bridal gown and mine --- everything - they look like new!

Even though they are going back into storage (only this time under our bed and wrapped with acid free tissue and using acid-free boxes), it makes my heart smile knowing they are beautiful once again and ready to pass on to the next generation.
